Summer
Willy Werth
Summer is the ultimate creator, a muse for all who make and do. It blesses us with bounty, the father of every harvest, every fruit.
Even when hail hammers down from blackened skies, strewing leaves like the dead across the earth, the sun will triumph. It never turns its back on the world in dark times.
No storm can loot summer’s wealth. Though tempests may tear through fields, summer will soon drape them again in a tapestry of vibrant flowers.
It still bears a wealth of fruits, even as the sun-bronzed reapers draw their brimming harvest wagons to the barn.
To all summer lovers!
How enviable are those fortunate enough to cast off the bustling routine of the big city for a generous stretch of time! Nothing rivals the joyful exhilaration that sweeps over us when the train delivers us from the tangled maze of buildings and ushers us toward the blissful ease of nature-bound vacation days.
Some delight in retreating to a dreamy nook by the water’s edge, casting their fishing line and waiting in tranquil stillness for a little fish to nibble. This cherished pursuit, too, brings relaxation amid the peaceful calm of nature.
To gaze down from a lonely mountain peak after a grueling climb, beholding the vivid world sprawling below, always stirs within us the most exalted feelings and deepens our delight in being alive.
What are they laughing about? The sunlit whimsy of the radiant beach offers endless moments to romp in gleeful abandon and relish the days of renewal in carefree merriment.
Summer vacation, oh blissful time! Sun-drenched and utterly worry-free, you live and dream the day away, caring not for what tomorrow brings.
You bask on the beach, you lounge in the grass, and drift along without a care, longing to stay this blissful and unburdened all summer long.
